The Director of Communications at State House in Freetown, Myk Berewa, has mocked the proposed ferry plan put forward by Mohamed Omodu Kamara, popularly known as Jagaban, a presidential candidate of Sierra Leone’s main opposition party, All People’s Congress (APC).
In a Facebook post, Berewa appeared to ridicule Jagaban’s ambitious proposal, which aims to address the long-standing challenges faced by passengers traveling between Freetown and Lungi.
“Their new ferry will take 500 passengers, luxurious first-class, and budget-friendly economy options, along with space for 50 cars and 40 trucks,” Berewa wrote, in a post that many interpreted as sarcastic.
The post quickly drew widespread criticism from social media users, who accused Berewa of being dismissive of a genuine attempt to solve the country’s persistent transport problem.
One Facebook user, Ibrahim Kargbo, reminded Berewa of the government’s own unfulfilled promises to improve ferry services for daily commuters between Freetown and Lungi. Another user, George Bantan, urged the government to show appreciation for Jagaban’s initiative.
“To be honest, I’m not an APC supporter, but frankly enough this called Jagaban is a true patriot,” Bantan wrote.
For decades, residents and travelers between the capital and Lungi, home to Sierra Leone’s only international airport, have relied on aging and unreliable ferries. Upon assuming office in 2018, President Julius Maada Bio pledged to construct a bridge linking Freetown and Lungi, a project that remains unfulfilled nearly eight years into his presidency.
As President Bio approaches the end of his second term in 2028, there is still no clear indication that the long-promised bridge will materialize, leaving the issue of safe and efficient travel between Freetown and Lungi unresolved.

Berewa what have you done for Sierra Leone since the president appointed you as in charge of your position, nothing but giving false talking about the president flagship program,so please leave Mr jagaban alone let him do it for we the people of Sierra Leone.
One love Mr jagaban 😘😘👍👍🙏🙏
I think it’s good for Mr.Berewa to remove the political lens and be patriotic, what they can’t do in seven years Jagaban has done it in six months. We don’t need theory but practical. Please let them allow who so ever is ready to make our beloved country. Action pas intention
Sure my bro
Mohamed Omodu Kamara aka Jagaban is nothing but a loud mouthed illiterate buffoon who takes delight in making promises he can not fulfil. Is he doing all this to fool the APCians so they can choose him as flagbearer? We do not want an illiterate to rule us in Sierra Leone. Jagaban can fool his APC grassroot supporters but he can not fool some of us. Is it true that he killed his mother just to get rich and also buried his father alive for the same reason?
May God have mercy on him.
God will have mercy on you, because you are a big fool you don’t know what you are talking
