On March 17, 2025, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) and Joint Security forces intercepted a large drug shipment in Foya District, Lofa County, worth over $77,000 USD.
Around 10:45 PM, the LDEA received a tip-off about a black pickup truck with Liberian license plate A533348, believed to be transporting narcotics. The truck was traveling from Sierra Leone to Monrovia. Acting on the tip, security forces stopped the vehicle in Lofa County.
The driver, 43-year-old Fayiah Lamie from Monrovia, initially claimed he was only carrying clothes and slippers. But after a search, authorities found 772 plates of high-grade marijuana, worth around $77,200 USD (about 14.6 million Liberian dollars). They also found eight boxes of Tramadol, valued at $842 USD (160,000 Liberian dollars).
Lamie was arrested and is now under investigation. He is expected to face charges soon.
The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency has said it will continue its efforts to fight drug trafficking in Liberia and will provide more updates as the investigation moves forward.

This is really pathetic, why some Salone man get sweh so ba? Why is it always Sierra Leone? Few days ago there was a proposed list on social media of countries to be ban from entering the United State and now we are hearing about this. You people are really frustrating citizens of this country especially we the youths.
Every year there are thousands of graduates from Universities but there’s no job. Many have won the Diversity Visa lottery this year and it’s on the verge of becoming fruitless because of some of this ill records, our lives are about to change this year and see what are happening. This is sending bad images of Sierra Leone not even Nigeria’s name is on that list. You are really making me wish I was not born here 😭 😭 😭
God will punish all those that are destroying this nation and making the innocent suffers for their reckless, self centered behaviors.
Oooooh Saloon what a big shame again,
We have become more tight in our neighbours country .where are we going 👀 🤔 but ya kondo go eat e mama
Waw, GOD heal salone
This is not about blaming Sierra Leone.
It’s something that has been going on, this is a vehicle licenced in Liberia that has been moving across the borders trafficking drugs.
This is not the first time moving across the borders
Sierra Leone itself is vulnerable.
