Sylvia Blyden has rolled out a briefing on leadership and the diverse roles between men and women in terms of power and title with strategic comparison.

In her fifth paragraph, she disclosed her ambition with a prayer and critical mind-set and a conditional statement of her either becoming married before she becomes President of Sierra Leone, and the title that her husband may accord which is different from when a man rules and the title a woman may accord between ‘’His Excellency’’ and ‘’ Her Excellency’’ respectively.

Her briefing reads below:

”About 2,000 Guests have been invited to the Coronation of Their Majesties of Great Britain. This is the Invitation Card. On the card, Queen Camilla is titled as Majesty because she is married to His Majesty King Charles. The two shall become ONE and share the same titles. The same thing for Presidents and First Ladies. They both carry the title of Excellency.

The reason for this is to ensure that, amidst the natural order of male chauvinistic settings of most societies, the Wife of a Head of State is never humiliated or given any protocol treatment of lesser value than her husband. So both of them are entitled with the same highest protocol title of Majesty or Excellency.

Now let’s examine if a Woman is Head of State like how the mother of King Charles III (late Queen Elizabeth II) used to be Head of State. Ironically, if a Queen is married, her husband CANNOT be called His Majesty. Similarly, if a Woman becomes President, her husband cannot be called His Excellency.

The reason for this dichotomy is to ensure the Married MAN does not over-dominate the Wife who is already subjected to his dominance inside their marriage. So the husband of Queen Elizabeth was never titled as His Majesty the King but the wife of King Charles will be titled as Her Majesty the Queen or in the longer form of the title as:- Her Majesty the Queen Consort.

On a lighter side, if I get married before I become President of Sierra Leone (if God blesses my ambitions) my husband, as First Gentleman, will not be titled as “His Excellency” but any wife (First Lady) of a male President is automatically to be entitled as Her Excellency – just like Camilla is now automatically Her Majesty.

Hope you have enjoyed this briefing paper? I took some of my research from the British Royal Family website, the London Guardian Newspaper and other sources of Protocol Teachings. The Coronation Invitation is from the official website of King Charles III”. he stated.
