Popular Socio-Political Activist, Slyvia Olayinka Blyden has stated that President Julius Maada Bio will likely lose the 2023 presidential election based on Human Rights issues instead of economic downturn.

She made this statement on her Twitter page.

2023 Elections will not be on Economic downturn but will be a Human Rights elections so H.E. Bio will likely lose Presidency based on that,” Slyvia Blyden posted.

She added that, “Despite broad framework shows improvement – Eg: Criminal Libel & Death Penalty eliminated, Sierra Leone Citizens are GENUINELY SCARED of Bio’s Reign.”

Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad have over the years accused President Bio and his Sierra Leone People’s Party ( SLPP) Government of extrajudicial political killings, egregious and grave human rights abuses and massive and widespread corruption.

Arbitrary arrests and detention of journalists, musicians, human rights activists, and opposition political figures have multiplied in Sierra Leone since April 2018, when President Bio’s SLPP government came to power,” activist Salieu Kamara based in the UK, noted.

Sierra Leone’s general election will take place around this time next year, and it is anticipated that it will be close battle between the ruling SLPP and the main opposition APC.
