A prominent Sierra Leonean figure, Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden, has publicly condemned Chief Minister David Moinina Sengeh for allegedly endorsing the emotional abuse of her late mother’s memory.

In a statement released on Sunday, August 10, 2025, Blyden accused Sengeh of spreading “egregious and unforgivable lies” intended to inflict pain on her and her family.

Blyden referred to Sengeh as a “Sylvia Blyden Slams Chief Minister Sengeh Over Alleged Emotional Abuse of Her Late MotherSylvia Blyden Slams Chief Minister Sengeh Over Alleged Emotional Abuse of Her Late Mother

,” claiming he employs underhanded tactics for political gain. “David Moinina Sengeh is a n@sty n@sty b@stard who takes delight in tacitly endorsing for my late mother to be abused,” she stated, asserting that her criticisms arise from his perceived incompetence in handling both local and global financial matters.

In her remarks, Blyden recounted her previous efforts to mediate between Sengeh and Fatima Maada Bio, the wife of President Julius Maada Bio. She clarified that she did not conspire against Sengeh but aimed to foster peace between the two parties. However, she expressed disappointment upon realizing that President Bio was aware of the online harassment directed at her late mother and chose not to intervene.

Blyden characterized herself as a peacemaker, stating, “I am a peacemaker. I am not a bully.” She described instances of bullying by Sengeh, who allegedly called her a “Witch” during a government press conference and incited his followers to harass her. “Such conduct, by a Chief Minister, is the height of bullying from a very rich and powerful State official,” she added.

In her conclusion, Blyden distanced herself from the idea of a political alliance with Fatima Maada Bio, stating, “I will never support your proposed ‘Fatima-Sylvia’ all-woman presidential ticket.” She emphasized that her relationship with Fatima is based on sisterhood and mutual respect for their contributions to women’s empowerment in Sierra Leone.
