Sylvia Blyden, a political analyst from Sierra Leone, recently visited Francis Ben Kaifala, the Commissioner for the Anti-Corruption Commission, who is currently on study leave at Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
Emphasizing the significance of her visit, Blyden stated that her visit served as a pleasant interruption for Mama Tewa’s son, Ben Kaifala, bringing a smile to his face during his intense study routine.
“I came to check on Mama Tewa’s son. I interrupted his studies and brought a smile to his face,” she said.
Ben Kaifala expressed deep gratitude for Blyden’s effort to see him, noting the lengths she went to make the visit possible. He mentioned that she bought her ticket by herself and spent 30 minutes as well waiting for him to complete his lecture which was something great to him.
He wrote, “She bought a ticket, flew all from New Jersey, paid for hotel and waited for 30 minutes for me to finish a class at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and then we walked all the way to the Harvard Law School for my next class. That’s how much my Big Sister, Sia Kissi – Dr. sylvia Olayinka Blyden, showed this student love.
“But it was worth it as we have spent a really good time together touring Cambridge, enjoying food and reflecting on many things on Sierra Leone. She left me with these words “You can always count on me. We have to rise above party politics and make Sierra Leone beneficial for the ordinary man. Come back soon.” I smiled back. It’s a MISSION!”
