Abu Bakarr Naorie, popularly known as Buba NaOrie and owner of the Tandeen Fishing Company, is facing mounting scrutiny following revelations linking his business to a mysterious boat believed to be involved in the trafficking of cocaine.

According to a report by the Gleaner Newspaper, the boat in question is suspected to have been used in illicit drug operations and is reportedly owned by Tandeen Fishing Company a subsidiary of the larger Tandeen Group of Companies. The group operates a number of facilities, including a fishing harbour and cold storage units, which investigators now believe may be central to a broader drug smuggling scheme.

The vessel was discovered under suspicious circumstances, prompting authorities to launch a confidential investigation. Although the ownership of the boat was initially concealed, investigators have traced it back to the Tandeen Fishing Company, intensifying focus on the firm’s operations at its Goderich Fish Landing Facility and the company’s head office located on Bangali Drive in Freetown.

Sources close to the investigation allege that the company may be serving as a front for trafficking activities, using its legitimate fishing business to mask illegal dealings. Specific details of the cocaine discovery, including the amount and exact location, remain classified as authorities continue to probe the matter.

As the investigation unfolds, law enforcement and anti-narcotics agencies are reportedly tightening surveillance around the company’s premises and affiliates. Meanwhile, no official charges have been filed against Naorie, but the case has raised serious questions about the potential infiltration of organized crime into Sierra Leone’s fishing and maritime sectors.

Authorities have yet to issue a formal statement, and the Tandeen Fishing Company has not responded to the allegations at the time of this publication.
