The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, alongside its sub-vented agencies, the National Tourist Board, and the Monument and Relics Commission, successfully held the second edition of the Ecotourism Float Parade in Central Freetown.

The Ecotourism Float Parade was marked by dynamic displays of culture, music, drama, and dance. Local talents, including the popular “Wan Pot” comedian and Sierra Leone National Gymnasts, delivered performances that emphasized sustainable ecotourism practices to the enthusiastic crowd.

The parade began at Eastern Police and flowed through several key locations, such as Garrison Street, PZ, Cotton Tree, Kroo Town Road, St. John, Zontal Bye Pass, and concluded at Kingharman Road. The initiative garnered applause and admiration from the local community, who appreciated the Ministry’s commitment to bringing the ecotourism message directly to the public.

During the event, Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Nabeela Tunis, highlighted the country’s potential for ecotourism, stating, “International marketing endeavors have proven that Sierra Leone is well suited for ecotourism as tourists are interested in the country’s ecotourism potentials, its history, people, and culture.” She urged citizens to abandon harmful environmental habits that threaten the environment.

Supporting the minister’s message, Permanent Secretary, Edward Kwame Yankson, Director of Culture, Creativity and Innovation, Foday Jalloh, and General Manager of the National Tourist Board, Farmata Mida Carew, played key roles in conveying the ecotourism message throughout the parade.
