The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Nabeela Farida Tunis, bid farewell to Jamaican reggae artist Christopher Martin as he departed Sierra Leone following his performance at the recent One Nation Reggae Festival.
Minister Tunis conveyed the nation’s well-wishes and anticipation for Martin’s return, stating:
“As Christopher Martin journeys back home, our hearts go with him. We’re truly sorry for the incident on stage and so grateful he is safe. He shared so much love with Sierra Leone. Wishing him healing, strength, and a peaceful trip home.”
The singer suffered a fall after a section of the stage collapsed due to what organizers described as technical issues during his set on Friday night at the Radisson Blu Garden. The event is part of the multi-day One Nation Reggae Festival, which seeks to strengthen cultural ties between Sierra Leone and the Caribbean.

Martin, known for hits like “Cheater’s Prayer” and “Big Deal,” responded on his social media page:
“Giving thanks for life every single day. During my performance in Sierra Leone this morning, some technical issues on stage led to a very unfortunate situation, but I’m okay and recovering well. Special thanks to the Minister of Tourism and her team.”
He also expressed gratitude to fans and well-wishers:
“I feel it all. To the people of Sierra Leone, your energy and love lifted me right back up.”
