The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, in collaboration with the One Love Salone Foundation, has launched the Wanpole Fish Seafood Stall at Lumley as part of efforts to empower women and promote tourism.

On 8th July 2025, members of the One Love Salone Foundation officially commissioned the new seafood stall.

According to the Ministry, the Wanpole stall is strategically located near Lumley Beach, which is surrounded by hotels, restaurants, and bars making it the most accessible point for fresh seafood. The initiative is already proving impactful to nearby tourism establishments.

The Ministry also noted that fishmongers had long faced challenges during both the dry and rainy seasons due to the poor condition of the previous stall. Their request for a well-constructed facility has now been fulfilled.

Present at the commissioning were the General Manager of the National Tourist Board, Fatmata Carew, along with other staff members of the Board.

She noted, the venture was laudable and expressed her appreciation to the foundation, adding this aligns well with their campaign for 2025 ‘Year of Ecotourism’. She admonished the fishmongers to ensure proper waste management in that area to ensure the beach is kept clean.

With the slogan ‘Tourism Bizness, Na All Man Bizness’, we encourage more organizations to replicate the same in the ensuing Sierra Leone becomes a destination for many Tourists, both locally and internationally.
