The National Tourist Board (NTB) has issued a reminder to property developers and beachfront operators in the Lumley-Aberdeen Beach area regarding their annual financial obligations, as mandated by the Finance Act 2024.
In a press release, the NTB emphasized that property developers must pay annual development fees, while beachfront operators are required to remit their beachfront fees.
These payments are critical to maintaining the Lumley-Aberdeen Beach area as a designated Tourism Development Area (TDA), ensuring environmental sustainability, orderliness, and a vibrant atmosphere for visitors.
The NTB highlighted that only legally registered businesses approved by the Board, such as hotels, guesthouses, beach bars, restaurants, casinos, and other tourism-related facilities, are permitted to operate along the beachfront.
Deadline for Payment
The NTB has urged all developers and businesses in the area to fulfill their obligations promptly. Payments must be made at the NTB office located at Lumley-Aberdeen Beach, with an official receipt provided upon settlement. The deadline for payment is December 20, 2024.
The NTB has called on all stakeholders to cooperate in ensuring compliance with the regulations. “Timely payment of these fees is vital for the sustainability and development of the Tourism Development Area,” the release stated.
The Board extended its gratitude to businesses for their continued support and commitment to maintaining Lumley-Aberdeen Beach as a premier tourism destination in Sierra Leone.
