Deputy Minister of Technical and Higher Education, Sarjoh Aziz Kamara, opened an international training on Trust, Identity, and Access Management (TIAM) at Njala University, organized by the Sierra Leone Research and Education Network (SLREN).

The event, featuring participants from across West Africa, aimed to enhance secure access to digital resources and promote research, technology, and innovation in higher education.

In his keynote address, Kamara emphasized the importance of the training in empowering universities and research institutions to manage user identities and access networks securely, aligning with the government’s “Big Five” agenda focused on food security, human capital development, and technological infrastructure.

The training seeks to establish interoperable services that verify user identities and strengthen digital infrastructure in academic institutions, supporting the government’s broader goals of fostering innovation and research.

Kamara reiterated that building technological capacity in universities is key to achieving sustainable national progress.
