Heads of transport agencies in Sierra Leone have signed 2025 performance contracts with the Ministry of Transport and Aviation, marking a commitment to improved service delivery, innovation, and accountability within the sector.

The signing ceremony took place at the Ministry’s conference room in the Youyi building on Thursday, February 6, 2025.

Minister of Transport and Aviation, Ambassador Col. Rtd. Alhaji Fanday Turay Esq., urged agency heads to embrace innovation, improve coordination, and proactively address challenges. He emphasized the importance of a safe, reliable, and efficient transport sector for the people of Sierra Leone.

While acknowledging past progress, Minister Turay stressed that more work remains to be done, highlighting the transport sector’s crucial role in national development and economic growth.

The Minister explained that the performance contracts establish clear targets, define responsibilities, and ensure accountability to both the government and the public. He stated that the signing demonstrates President Julius Maada Bio’s commitment to ensuring efficient, transparent, and results-oriented operations across all transport agencies.

Minister Turay also called for improved coordination and collaboration among agencies to achieve these goals.

Among the signatories was the Director General (DG) of the Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority (SLCAA), Madam Musayeroh Barrie, who signed the 2025 Management Performance Contract.

She expressed her commitment to the contract’s objectives, focusing on raising aviation standards in Sierra Leone. The SLCAA aims to improve safety, efficiency, and the overall travel experience, aligning with its broader goals of transforming the aviation landscape, fostering growth, and contributing to national development through international best practices.

Madam Barrie emphasized the SLCAA’s dedication to supporting the growth of Sierra Leone’s aviation industry, meeting national and international standards, and providing world-class service.
