The tripartite committee tasked with reforming Sierra Leone’s electoral processes has secured an extension following a critical meeting with President Bio at State House, accompanied by moral guarantors ECOWAS and AU.

The committee, comprising representatives from the main opposition APC, the ruling SLPP and a member from the international commitee , requested additional time to finalize their comprehensive report after identifying and resolving a substantial number of issues.

Initially established in response to review the country’s electoral systems following the controversial June 2023 presidential polls, the committee has diligently addressed 86 identified issues, successfully resolving 69 of them.

The remaining challenges are under active consideration for swift resolution.During the recent meeting, a joint communique was signed, highlighting the committee’s commitment to transparency and inclusivity in their efforts.

This document is set to be released publicly in the near future, providing clarity on the progress made and outlining further steps to strengthen electoral integrity.
