The Civil Society Coordinating Committee (CSCC) on the implementation of the Tripartite and EOM Recommendations has consensually appointed Abu Bakar Tarawally as its Chairman and Alhaji Manika Kamara as Secretary.

Mr. Abu Bakar Tarawally, who is the Policy Analyst at the Budget Advocacy Network (BAN), and Alhaji Manika Kamara is the President of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ).

Alhaji Manika Kamara, in 2019, was elected Assistant Secretary General and was instrumental in supporting President Ahmed Sahid Nasralla’s administration, particularly in the repeal of Part V of the Public Order Act 1965, which criminalised free speech. Also, he was unanimously appointed as Acting Secretary General (2021) and subsequently elected as Substantive Secretary General in 2022.

The establishment of the CSCC is as a result of a resolution from the two-day national conference organised by NEW in October 2024 on Mobilising CS Towards Genuine Electoral Reforms, Peace and National Cohesion.

The CSCC’s tasks include increasing collaboration among CSOs and other stakeholders for genuine electoral reforms, following up on recommendations of both the Tripartite and EOMs, advocating and supporting electoral management, legal, and institutional reforms.

Furthermore, the National Election Watch (NEW) provides technical and logistical support to the Committee with funds from the European Union in Sierra Leone through International IDEA.
