The Central Youths Organization (C.Y.O) has intensified efforts to combat the growing threat of drug abuse in Kono District, reaffirming its commitment to building a Kush-free community.
According to reports, around 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, members of the C.Y.O apprehended Musa Bailer, popularly known as Musa Tombo, at Central Opera. The suspect was allegedly found in possession of 98 wraps of the dangerous substance Kush.
Barely an hour later, at approximately 6:00 p.m., another suspect identified as Mohamed Kamara was also arrested with 20 wraps of Kush. Upon being handed over to the Tankoro Police Division, a subsequent police search led to the discovery of additional wraps hidden in his possession.
The arrests form part of C.Y.O’s ongoing collaboration with security agencies to rid the streets of harmful drugs and safeguard the future of young people in Kono.
In a statement, a representative of the organization reaffirmed their commitment to protecting the community from the devastating effects of Kush, noting that their efforts are driven by the urgent need to restore hope, discipline, and purpose among young people.
“We are determined to save our youth from the grip of Kush. This fight is for the survival of our community and the future of Kono,” the spokesperson stated.
The Central Youths Organization has been at the forefront of grassroots anti-drug campaigns, working closely with law enforcement and community leaders to tackle the growing drug crisis affecting many young people across Sierra Leone.
As the fight against Kush continues, residents of Kono have commended the organization’s vigilance and courage, describing their efforts as a model for community-led reform and protection.
