The United States Embassy in Freetown has announced that two Sierra Leoneans, Abdul Rahman Bangura and Ganda Bassie, have been selected to participate in the 2025 Community Solutions Program in the United States.
Bangura, who serves as President of the Grass Field United Initiative for Development and Education, and Bassie, Founder and Director of the Child Welfare and Development Project (CWADeP), will join community leaders from across the U.S. to exchange ideas, strengthen their skills, and establish partnerships aimed at driving positive social change.
According to the U.S. Embassy, both fellows are expected to return and continue their impactful work in Sierra Leone, particularly in expanding educational opportunities for young people. Their projects are also geared towards helping communities resist the devastating impact of the kush epidemic while building the capacity of Sierra Leoneans to partner more effectively with the United States in the future.
“We wish them every success on this exciting journey and look forward to seeing the impact of their work when they return,” the embassy stated.
The Community Solutions Program is a highly competitive initiative that brings together emerging leaders from around the world to collaborate on addressing pressing issues such as education, civic engagement, and community resilience.
