The Chairman and Leader of the United Democratic Movement (UDM) Party, Mohamed Sowa Turay has denied the statement made by the All Political Parties Association’s (APPA) Prince Coker of being part of one of the 11 political parties that endorsed President, Julius Maada Bio ahead of June’s general elections.
Earlier this week, Coker was recorded to have said that the APPA has endorsed President Julius Maada Bio to run for the second term at the Sierra Leone People’s Party’s (SLPP) Annual Delegates Conference.
The UDM, a member of the APPA denounced Coker’s statement with the Chairman tagging it as “unfortunate and an attempt to undermine the basic principles of multi party democracy”.
“His statement does not represent APPA and should therefore be disregarded by members of the public,” Turay said in a press release issued to the public.
He furthered that his party is focused on contesting in the June 2023 elections and that Coker’s statements are untrue.
