Umaru Fofana of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has expressed frustration over the lack of electricity and water supply in Freetown.
He made this known on a social media post.
“There’s no reliable electricity supply from the central grid. Two weeks of frustration. There’s a generator. But diesel fuel is hard to come by. It’s been days without water,” he stated.
Fofana however noted that there was water in the neighborhood this morning that should be pumped into the reserve tank, but it needs power to do that.
“There’s no power. Because there’s no electricity. The generator can’t come on. There’s no diesel fuel. Like a vicious circle,” he bemoaned.
The BBC reporter further stated that, “Can someone please tell the people how they’re realistically dealing with this conundrum of a catch 22. Is the power shortage due to repairs on the Turkish power ship as we’ve been officially told, or is KaPower doubling down due to nonpayment as some sources tell me?”
“Can the finance and energy ministries work this out and end our misery please! We don’t get electricity for free. We pay for it!! If there are leakages by some crooked EDSA staff and other citizens that cannot be sorted or fixed by those charged with the responsibility, must we suffer the consequence? And yet we are not being told the truth of the matter. Surely we DO NOT deserve this! Irked!!” He concluded.
