Sierra Leone BBC reporter Umaru Fofana has reacted to the increase of fuel pump prices from Le15,000.00 to Le18,000.00.
With the present Russia-Ukraine war that has caused countries around the globe with massive impact negatively, Sierra Leone among others is not an exception.
The fuel pump price which was Le10,000 months ago has been rocketing over these two previous months from Le10,000 to Le12,000 and later ended at Le15,000. This new price sparked bitter reactions from Sierra Leoneans who thought the price should not have gone to where it was looking at the standard of living of the less privilege and the mass population. Despite to the cries of the citizens, prices keep hiking from one level to another with no going downwards.
As of yesterday Thursday 9 June 2022, PRA released a press statement stating the pump price of fuel in Sierra Leone which has increased from Le15,000.00 to Le18,000.00 with immediate effect.
Umaru Fofana seeing this notice however revealed his new austerity plans with regards to the new fuel pump price. On his Facebook post dated Friday 10th June 2022, BBC reporter Umaru Fofana stated that the new fuel pump price is now a ring bell on his mind. This the reporter meant that whatever he has to do that relates to fuel needs to be properly planned and caution taken.
Umaru Fofana added that he has officially activated his driving mode and the use of Air Conditioner is also deactivated in his vehicle. Going deeper into his austerity plans, Umaru Fofana also revealed that, henceforth he will be charging per km of his movement out of town. This the reporter believes is worthy a try in order be a survivor in this global economic meltdown.

“Le 18,000 on my mind. Essential driving mode activated. A/C use deactivated. Henceforth I charge per km outta town. Survived global economic meltdown. Will survive Russia-Ukraine crisis. 💪”
