United Nations Regional Coordinator, Babatunde Ahonsi has on 21 March 2023 engaged Sierra Leone’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr. Hinga Sandi.

The engagement was to inform the minister of the plans to facilitate a joint UN engagement and informed advocacy to support Sierra Leone to better leverage the opportunities presented by African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA) as part of its drive for economic recovery and sustainable development.

‘’Accompanied by the heads of UNWomen Sierra Leone and UNEDF, I had a successful meeting today with the Minister of Trade and Industry and we discussed how UN Sierra Leone can support Sierra Leone to better leverage presented by the AFCFTA to boost economic growth, create jobs and reduce poverty,’’ Ahonsi stated.
