The United Nations Development Program-UNDP Resident Representative in Sierra Leone has witnessed the passing-out ceremony of the National Youth Service Corps together with the Chief Minister, Jacob Jusu Saffa and the Minister of Youth Affairs, Orman Bangura.
In his statement at the ceremony, the UNDP Resident Representative, Palamin Beyai encouraged young people to use the opportunity to contribute to the total development of Sierra Leone.
Speaking at the event, Nadia Rasheed, a representative of the UN Population Fund to Sierra Leone also expressed satisfaction over the ceremony which led to the passing-out of 360 young women and men who are embarking on a year of service to make a positive difference for communities and the country at large.
It is believed that these young people will be beneficial to their different communities and work environment in changing the negative perceptions many individuals hold about the youths in the country. They would be change agents and assist in different Ministries, departments and agencies respectively.
