The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Sierra Leone, together with the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ), has launched a two-day Strategic Communication Workshop for the Sierra Leone Police.
The workshop is designed to strengthen the capacity of officers and police communicators to refine key messaging, update FAQs, develop forward-looking media strategies, and share accurate information across multiple platforms.
This initiative supports the police’s ongoing transition into a modern, transparent, and accountable service.
Deputy Inspector General of Police, Sahr Yomba Senessie, encouraged participants to view the workshop as an opportunity for skill-building, honest reflection, and collaboration toward a professional police service that earns public trust.
The training also reflects a growing partnership between the police, the media, and civil society, anchored in the historic MOU between SLAJ and the Sierra Leone Police. The collaboration aims to promote responsible journalism and strengthen trust between citizens and institutions.
