Following the death of Bishop Giorgio Biguzzi, the founding father of the University of Makeni, the institution has expressed grief for his demise.

While mourning his death, the university extended condolences to the bereaved family of the late Bishop, the Makeni Diocese, and the people whose lives were impacted by the departed soul.

“On behalf of the University of Makeni community, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Bishop Biguzzi’s family, the Makeni Diocese, and all those who lives he touched with his remarkable leadership and unwavering faith,” the Director of UniMak Public Relations Directorate, Shebora Samba Kamara, said.

In a press release dated 1st July 2024, the University of Makeni wrote that the “tireless efforts” of Bishop Giorgio Biguzzi (late) were instrumental in the establishment and growth of the university.

“Bishop Giorgio Biguzzi was a visionary leader whose dedication and tireless efforts were instrumental in the establishment and growth of UNIMAK,” Shebora Samba Kamara wrote.

“His visionary leadership and commitment to education have shaped the foundation of upon which our institution stands,” he continued.

Bishop Giorgio Biguzzi passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024, in Parma, Italy. His death was announced by the Vicar General of the Makeni Diocese, Reverend Father Dominic Arnold Johnson. Until his death, Bishop Biguzzi was the Bishop Emeritus of Makeni Diocese.
