The first-ever U.S.-Sierra Leone Defense Country Coordination Meeting (CCM) commenced on February 6th at the Army Headquarters, Cockerill Barracks in Freetown.
The two-day meeting brings together representatives from the United States Armed Forces and the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces to discuss and prioritize defense cooperation for the coming years.
Participants include representatives from U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), U.S. Naval Forces Africa (NAVAF), and Southern European Task Force Africa (SETAF), alongside their Sierra Leonean counterparts.
U.S. Ambassador Hunt emphasized the importance of the meeting, describing it as a milestone in the two nations’ shared commitment to a more secure, prosperous, and resilient partnership.
He noted that the open dialogue and strategic planning will enable both countries to collaboratively address challenges and identify opportunities to ensure long-term security and stability for Sierra Leone, West Africa, and the United States.
