The United States Embassy in Sierra Leone has strongly condemned the attack on the Wilberforce Barracks military facility in Freetown early on Sunday, November 26, 2023.
In a statement, the Embassy expressed its unwavering support for the Sierra Leone government and its efforts to restore peace and security in the country. The statement also urged all Sierra Leoneans to adhere to the government-imposed curfew for their own safety.
“We condemn in the strongest possible terms the attempted overnight forceful seizure of Wilberforce Barracks and armory,” the statement read. “Such actions have no justification.”
The Embassy further commended the Sierra Leone government’s security forces for their swift and decisive response to the attack. It also expressed its confidence in the government’s ability to maintain order and protect the country’s citizens.
“The United States continues to stand with all those working for a peaceful, democratic, healthy, and prosperous Sierra Leone,” the statement concluded.
The Embassy’s statement comes as the Sierra Leone government continues to grapple with the aftermath of the attack, which has left several people injured. The government has imposed a curfew in Freetown and surrounding areas, and security forces have been deployed to maintain order.

I pray the good Lord of heaven continue to protect us and save us from all forms of war in sierra Leone coz many of these people talking don’t know what war is capable of doing.
It’s has happened once in this country and we saw human bodies in the street eaten by vultures and other animals which is very inhuman.
Many happy homes were set apart, and many children were forcefully joined the rebels in to the forest, damages of properties and many lives were miserable.
So please let us all stop politicized this issue coz that’s how the SL war started by blaming each other until things became uncountable.
Long live Sierra Leone, long live Africa.

WE NEED CHANGE OF GOVERNANCE
Sierra Leone comes first among parties,regions, ethnicity or persons. If political leaders cannot deliver after the first test of serving a term, should not beg or create instances for a second term when the ballot box had spoken . These are the spill over effects of a forceful occupancy. Let’s be proud of being Sierra Leoneans and build our country. Let’s discard comparing the first world to any country in Africa and Sierra Leone in particular. Those countries where built up by well meaning patriots. Let’s be patriotic to build a rejunevated Sierra Leone. Long live Sierra Leone!!!
