On August 17, U.S. Embassy Freetown and IOM handed over 30 new motorbikes to five border management units to support patrol operations along Sierra Leone’s borders.
According to the Embassy, Since 2018, the International Organization for Migration’s (IOM) Africa Regional Migration Program (ARMP) has received funding from the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM) to support migration management with an emphasis on combatting human trafficking.
The United States is proud to partner with IOM and the government of Sierra Leone to address the challenges of illegal migration and trafficking in persons in Sierra Leone.
