Ibrahim Karim Sei, a veteran Sierra Leonean Journalist and former National Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ), passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
He died at the Chinese Government Hospital in Jui, Freetown.
Sei was a respected veteran of the media landscape, having served as the former Editor of the Standard Times Newspaper and as the Managing Editor of African Standard.
SLAJ announced his death with deep sadness, extending condolences to his family, relatives, friends, and the entire media fraternity.
Outgoing SLAJ President Ahmed Sahid Nasralla paid tribute to Sei, stating, “We have lost a legend. Karim Sei’s name will forever be etched in the history of SLAJ and the print media industry. His family should be proud of his life, which was well lived. Whilst we mourn his death, we also celebrate his life.”
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the SLAJ Secretariat at a later date.
