The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has witheld over 20,000 results in the just released West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary School Education, Conrad Sackey, made the announcement today, revealing that a total of 146,179 candidates from 816 schools participated in the examination. This figure represents a slight decrease compared to the 243,202 candidates who sat for the WASSCE in 2023.
While the results for 36 private schools (owing a total of 10,563 WAEC fees) were not included in the initial list, the remaining 135,617 candidates from 781 schools have received their results.
Of the total candidates, 83,113 successfully sat for at least one subject or more, while 27,097 were unfortunately unable to obtain results due to withheld examinations.

Honestly we the students of sierra Leone are really suffering due to this one examination which they call WASSCE. I think if we have another examination bodies this people will not be doing all such things. They just want to destroy our academy journey. Yesterday I tried for checked out my result what I saw witheld due to unknown causes. Meaning the whole of my three years has just go in vain. Please papa Government we’re pleading for your intervention. Some of our parents won’t be able to pay for us again due to financial problems and if that happens we’re going to become a dropout from school because of this WASSCE calamity 😭😭😭😭😭

This is very bad,and it can lead to so many drop out of school going pupils.We are really calling on the president of this republic inorder for us to be able to get our results if not this so call waec are ready to dent your reputation

Students today are grappling with the overwhelming pressure of relying solely on WAEC for their external examinations. This dependency has created a sense of hopelessness, as many believe that without WAEC’s endorsement, their chances of gaining university admission are slim. The practice of withholding results without clear justification is not only unfair but also deeply damaging to the morale and aspirations of countless hardworking students. It’s disheartening to see dedicated individuals, who have invested so much time and effort into their studies, facing such obstacles. Many have been forced to abandon their dreams due to the uncertainty surrounding their results. Yet, amidst this turmoil, we must hold onto hope and believe that justice will eventually be served, ensuring that every student’s hard work is recognized and rewarded.
Honestly speaking WAEC body are not trying, they’re actually frustrating Student who have the determination to forward their education. How can you withheld someone’s result without any evidence. Please try to release our result 🙏🙏🙏

Most of our parents suffered to put foods on our tables and they go all out for us to go school. I spent three years in school and all my three years in school went in vain cuz my 2024 WASSCE results all got seized for no reasons. Please 🙏🏾 Papa Government, Minister of Education and the exam body in Sierra Leone 🇸🇱 please 🙏🏾 release our withheld 2024 WASSCE results. Some of our parents won’t be able to pay again because of financial issues and we might be a dropout from school.

Please 🙏 Government of Sierra Leone 🇸🇱 it over 4 times my results has been withheld. Mr. Minister, please I want you to know that, the absent of pupils that led to the withheld results
is based on the calling of the attendance list in exam Halls. Most invigilators don’t have patient to call the list loud and some call this fast and this made most pupils don’t herd there names and they will mark the individual absent without even do it twice please Mr. Minister think of this some of us our parents can’t afford to pay for us, so most of us do pay to sit the WASSCE Exam after hard labour in different jobs just not to be dropout please 🙏🏾 see to our cries.
Please 🙏 Mr. President and his Minister of Education please ask WAEC to release our result because the withheld of our results is based of absent of students in the halls of different schools in the country. Mr. President, most students where in the Hall concentrating on there work when these invigilators busy calling attendance list and some could not herd their names and it also clear that some invigilators will not even tell the students that they are about to call the attendance list. Please 🙏 Mr. President and Minister please investigate on this matter and release our results.
