The Western Area Rural District Council (WARDC) has delivered a strong message to residents and groups in the district, urging them to cease all unlawful activities immediately.
This directive comes through the Council’s Rural District Police (RDP) Department and is enforced under Section 98 of the Local Government Act of 2022.
The Council highlighted several key regulations that must be adhered to:
Improper Disposal of Garbage: Residents must not dump garbage in streets, public places, or unauthorized areas.
Unauthorized Use of Streets and Public Spaces: Storing materials, running welding shops, or using streets as garages without prior permission is prohibited.
Unauthorized Construction: All building projects must have a valid permit issued by the Council before commencing.
Substandard Rental Facilities: Renting out premises lacking essential facilities such as toilets, bathrooms, and kitchens is illegal.
Unauthorized Advertising: Displaying banners, billboards, or other forms of advertising without Council approval is not allowed.
Violations of these regulations will attract severe penalties, including fines up to NLe 5,000, imprisonment for up to six months, or both, as outlined in Section 98(2)(a) of the Local Government Act.
The WARDC leadership has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment. Residents are advised to comply with these regulations to avoid enforcement actions, which will be implemented without further warnings.
This directive was issued by the authority of the Western Area Rural District Council, under the Office of the Chairman.
