Despite a significant reduction in supply from Karpowership, which has scaled back its output to just 5.6MW, reserved for essential institutions, Sierra Leone’s energy sector has exceeded expectations, delivering over 56MW of electricity to Freetown as of 6:00 AM today. Said Dr. Kandeh Yumkella.

“Dear Colleagues, the following message from our situation room is that the power supplied to Freetown up to 6 am today. We exceeded our target of 50 MW. Our contingency measures worked perfectly.”

A big congratulations to EGTC, EDSA, and our operating team. I also extend thanks to my two colleagues, DM1 and DM2, for effective coordination. He stated.

“I am profoundly confident that Sierra Leone’s energy challenges are solvable, and I want to assure the people that my colleagues and I are fully determined to deliver on the mandate entrusted to us by His Excellency, President Julius Maada Bio.’’

He further added that, “If other countries can achieve reliable, sustainable, and affordable energy for their citizens, then we can do the same here in Sierra Leone.” Insh’Allah, we will get it done together, and for the future of our country.
