The World Health Organization’s Representative to Sierra Leone, Innocent Nuwagira has paid a courtesy call on President Bio and the minister of health and sanitation, Austin Demby.

According to them, the purpose of the visit was to inform the president about the progress and results of the long-term partnership and cooperation between the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MOHS) to improve the the country’s health system and outcomes respectively

‘’It was a pleasure meeting with WHO Sierra Leone representative Dr. Nuwagira at the state house in Freetown. My administration remains committed to enhancing Sierra Leone’s partnership with WHO to strengthen health systems, foster health security and harness research, information and evidence-based policy options for evolving global and national health situations.

Thank you for the unwavering support of our vision of building a functional national health system that delivers efficient, high-quality healthcare services that are accessible, equitable and affordable for all Sierra Leoneans. ’’ He mentioned.

The discussion also incorporated the forthcoming piloting of the universal health preparedness review supported by WHO, making Sierra Leone the second country in the WHO Africa Region to undertake the state-led, whole of government and intergovernmental initiative.
