Nigeria’s Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy Ohaneye has arrived in Freetown, Sierra Leone to participate in the launch of the #WeAreEqual Campaign.

The campaign is led by Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio.

Building on the success of the “Hands Off Our Girls” program, #WeAreEqual aims to address critical issues faced by women and girls in Sierra Leone and across Africa.

The “Hands Off Our Girls” program has made significant progress in combating rape, preventing early marriage and teenage pregnancy, and increasing access to justice for victims of gender-based violence.

First Lady Dr. Bio, along with other African First Ladies, are champions of impactful educational interventions. 2024 is dedicated to advocating for educational programs throughout Africa.

These efforts aim to revitalize existing initiatives to achieve Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all.
