Women’s Forum Sierra Leone has condemned Wednesday’s August 10 2022 violent anti-government protests that led to the deaths of security officers and civilians.

The Forum made this statement in a press release issued today, 15 August 2022, signed by National President, Sally Ndimawa Adams.

Full details of the press release is stated below:

“The National Women’s Umbrella organisation, Women’s Forum, Sierra Leone, is disturbed by the Acts of violence perpetrated on Wednesday 10th August 2022, which led to the loss of lives and properties in various locations in the East end of Freetown and other parts of the Northern region .

Women’s Forum Sierra Leone totally condemns these acts of violence, including the senseless attacks on and murders of Police officers who were just performing their duties.

Women’s Forum Sierra Leone believes that the August 10th unfortunate incident was an uprising, masterminded by Self serving Sierra Leoneans who should be resisted by all means

The Women’s Forum Sierra Leone therefore calls on all Citizens , especially the Youth and Women, to remain calm and peaceful , and urges the Government of Sierra Leone to investigate the incident speedily and bring Perpetrators to book

Such acts of terror have the tendency to undermine the hard won Peace and tranquility we now enjoy as a nation and we should resist them.

As an umbrella body for women and girls of this country, we offer our sincere condolences to all families who lost their love ones

Long live Sierra Leone.”
