On February 24th, 2024, World Hope International, alongside various partners, orchestrated a heartwarming Fun Day event at Lumley Beach in Freetown, bringing together approximately 1700 individuals with disabilities, along with their families and friends.
The event aimed to celebrate opportunity, dignity, and hope for persons with disabilities, offering a day filled with joy and camaraderie.
The event witnessed the convergence of people from diverse backgrounds, all united in the spirit of inclusivity and celebration. Attendees reveled in various activities and entertainment, fostering a sense of community and belonging. Laughter echoed across the beach as participants engaged in games, music, and shared moments of happiness.
A notable presence at the event was the esteemed Minister Austin Demby, the Minister of Health and Sanitation in Sierra Leone. Minister Demby graced the occasion with his presence, joining persons with disabilities in their celebrations. Expressing his sentiments, Minister Demby remarked, “It was such a joy to see happy family members take a break from the challenges of daily life to just have fun.” His words underscored the significance of such events in providing much needed respite and fostering a sense of normalcy and enjoyment for individuals facing unique challenges in their lives.
The Fun Day served as a beacon of hope and positivity, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity and societal support for persons with disabilities.
