The Mano River Division of the Sierra Leone Police has successfully trained 24 youths as Community Safety Volunteers, a move aimed at enhancing community policing and promoting safer neighborhoods.
The official handing-over ceremony for these volunteers took place under the leadership of Chief Superintendent of Police, Mr. Philip Albert Kpange.
The newly trained volunteers, consisting of both male and female participants from Maina Town in the Sorogbema Chiefdom of Pujehun District, are set to play a crucial role in fostering collaboration between law enforcement and community members.
This initiative, spearheaded by Local Unit Commander CSP Kpange, seeks to deepen grassroots partnerships with the aim of reducing crime, fostering peace, and ensuring a secure environment for all community residents. During the ceremony, Kpange emphasized the importance of community involvement in enhancing public safety and maintaining order.
The training program is part of a broader strategy by the Sierra Leone Police to engage local communities in crime prevention efforts, thereby creating safer and more resilient neighborhoods.
