Sierra Leonean rapper, singer and songwriter; Yung Sal wrote a letter to critics expressing his dissatisfactions after all what he has done in the music industry.
On his letter, the rapper stated that after doing rap songs in 2012 and 2013, he was told that he couldn’t make hit songs that people can dance to which inspired him to sing ‘Kam Join We’ in 2015.
“Dear critics/ Mr. Sabi sabi or Mr. Boku sense
Back in 2012/13, when i exclusively did rap music, you said could’nt make hit songs that people can dance to.
In 2015 i did “kam join we” you danced to it, as everyone appreciated it. A few months later you said i cannot do another hit song, so i gave you “bhad man party, Bad, Luma, Formula etc. “
After a while, you came up with another scheme which says that i cannot rap anymore, as a response to that i made “SHH- ft LAJ”. A trap song that created a wave. I made that song when most people were doing afrobeats. Yet you still went on to criticise. You said i couldnt sing, i gave you “no games and jabata”.
Now i see you on social media propagating that “Yung Sal nor SABI sing or SABI rap”. You see your criticisms inpires me to do more. And i promise you one thing, Yung Sal is here forever best believe that. Wait till you hear from me again. Till then keep up with your criticisms. Mr. SABI SABI aka BOKU SENSE.” – he writes
