The Mayor of Freetown, Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr has returned to Sierra Leone on Sunday, 29 August, 2021 after a month vacation in the United Kingdom.
Sources told Sierraloaded that she will resume office on Monday.
Recall that Yvonne Aki-Sawyer left the shores of Freetown on Friday 23rd July, 2021 for London to spend time with her family. After spending over a month with her family, the mayor returned home today.
Before leaving for London, the mayor was responding to questions to the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) concern some corruption allegations. There was also an infighting at the Freetown City Council with the Mayor and Chief Administrator.
The Councillors of Freetown City Council were also having issues with current Chief Administrator of Freetown City Council, Festus Kallay. Almost 95% of the councillors called for the transfer of CA because of undermining the operations of the Transform Freetown agenda of Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr.
The Chief Administrator have refused to sign the document for the procurement of tractors for the operation of the newly constructed transfer stations. He also refused to sign the cheque for the payment of tricycle groups that are cleaning the streets of Freetown.
On her absence, the Chief Administrator went to 98.1 FM ‘Good Morning Salone’ programme and levied allegations against Her Worship. He made allegation on the cost of the ICLOUD, a system that is developed for the operation of property tax rate and many other things.
While in London, Yvonne Aki-Sawyer was able to meet the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan and had a meeting on many issues including climate change.
