Ummah Welfare Trust (UWT) has made a significant impact on the lives of many people across Sierra Leone, particularly within the Muslim community. Through its Katateeb program, UWT supports over 35,000 students across 14 districts, excluding Falaba and Kailahun, by providing essential educational materials such as uniforms, bags, and books. This program is supported by over 1,500 teachers.

In addition to educational support, UWT distributes Eid gifts, Ramadan Iftars, and Kurbani meat to a wide range of beneficiaries, including students, teachers, Imams, widows, orphans, and other vulnerable members of the community.

Under the Income Generating Project (IGP), UWT has provided 100 Imams with livestock and has distributed a total of 79 motorbikes, with the latest distribution involving 44 motorbikes along with engine oil and crash helmets to 44 Imams on August 31, 2024.

UWT’s contributions extend beyond education and income generation. The organization has constructed more than 88 Masajid, built homes for Imams, and implemented numerous projects under its WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) program, including the construction of boreholes, wells, and toilets to improve access to clean water and sanitation facilities in Muslim communities.

Through these initiatives, Ummah Welfare Trust continues to play a vital role in uplifting and empowering the Muslim community in Sierra Leone, addressing both immediate needs and long-term development.
