I do respect all of your opinions on this matter, but former President Ernest Koroma was and is still the “Defacto Leader and Godfather” of the APC party without whom nothing tangible will come out of the party’s intervention in national politics.

This was clearly manifested a few days ago by the party’s parliamentary delegation consisting of Hon. Abdul Kargbo and others who went and had a prior consultation with the former President before honoring their invitation to meet with President Bio at the State House.

Embarrassingly, the former President told them categorically that they shouldn’t bring up his name because he is innocent and has nothing to do with the alleged ‘coup plot’ in which he stands accused by the state.

My question is, what’s the reason behind Hon. Kargbo wanted the public to know that, before honoring the invitation to meet with President Bio they had a prior engagement with former President Ernest Koroma? What’s the significance of that revelation? Who cares if you visited him? Hopefully, he wasn’t trying to put more pressure on the ‘medically challenged’ 70-year-old man who’s battling with hypertension and other related medical complications.

The granting of bail to former President Ernest Koroma on medical grounds purely by the Judiciary of Sierra Leone and not by President Julius Maada Bio has sparked intense debate and divergent opinions amongst Sierra Leoneans at both home and abroad. While some hardcore members of the ruling SLPP have outrightly condemned the president for allowing former President Koroma to travel out of the country, the President has made it clear that the decision was taken by the judiciary and has nothing to do with the executive.

Anyway, the game is over, and thank God Almighty the former President has arrived safely in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

However, we hope his APC party will not inundate his phone with daily complaints about who said what in his absence. Those usual ‘labeled’ styles of politics.
The 70-year-old man needs a complete rest so please stay off.

Moving forward, the National Chairman of the party, Hon. Minkailu Mansaray, is considered by many as an “armchair” administrator who seldom travels outside the Freetown municipality. He is deemed an “Eastern Man” who has almost nothing to do with “Western Freetown” where ironically he resides. But he didn’t grow up there and was not too adorable by the community.

There’s the embattled Dr. Samura Kamara whose leadership has technically expired six months after the 2023, Multi-tier elections, according to the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Sidi Yayah Tunis. What’s the party going to do about that is the million-dollar question.
The outspoken APC former Minister, Hon. Kemoh Sesay has made it categorically clear that Dr. Samura Kamara’s not going anywhere. Period!

Meanwhile, with former President Ernest Koroma now out of the country, it is incumbent upon the National Chairman, Hon. Minkailu Mansaray to step up a show leadership by calling for a National Peace and Reconciliation conference in trying to bring all the “warring factions” under one umbrella eying the horizon of 2028.
