Pastor Mohamed Sesay, a newspaper publisher and member of the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), has criticized Dr. Kandeh Yumkella, the Chairman of the Presidential Initiative for Climate change, Renewable Energy and Food Security, for his alleged early campaign for the flagbearership of the ruling party ahead of 2028 elections.
Sesay said that he was “very disturbed” to see a banner on social media with the words “SLPP flagbearer 2028 Dr Kandeh K Yumkella for flagbearer” boldly emblazoned. He said that he saw the banner as a “betrayal” to the presidency which appointed Yumkella to a position “bigger than that of a Cabinet Minister.”
Sesay also questioned why Yumkella could not “give the Government the chance to rule” before thinking about running for flagbearer. He said that it was “strange” that Yumkella, who had previously campaigned against the SLPP, would now want to lead the party.
“I asked myself how any individual could be so mean to begin to think of being flagbearer at a time when his excellency President Bio has not even completed a year in his 2nd term.
“Strange that Kandeh Yumkella of NGC fame, is in such a hurry to become flagbearer of the Sierra Leone People’s Party, a party which he was so against, he contested and campaigned against it with the hope that the SLPP and President Bio will lose the 2018 General Elections.
“But as God Almighty would have it, both SLPP and President Bio won.”
Sesay called on Yumkella to “revert” and allow the president to run the country in peace. He also said that the party should focus on its work and not on the 2028 election.
What if kky was not even aware of the banner, or an anti kky group did that to create that scene that essay is writing about, or even if it is true, does kky not have a right to express his political aim/ambition?
I know there are lots of kky haters across both parties. What if, I repeat, if it is not one of those criminal APC munku politicians wanting to create disquiet within the SLPP, knowing that they are about to be obliterated from the political stratosphere in salone?
I am not a kky apologist, rather a true member of the SLPP that has never, and will never change my allegiance from the SLPP.
Let us allow this gentleman to breath.some political fresh air, after all it was the so called strategists he relied on that let him down, for example, Zubairu, Dennis bright, Alan Luke and others, yet, no one is even thinking about them now.

Funny one to think APC is going anywhere. To rigg an election all time will have it ending. Then the time when APC will rule unapologetically. Tit for tat.

KKY is an intelligent honorable man with integrity that can’t degrade himself to such level. He himself very well knows that isn’t the proper way of getting himself to been the flag bearer of the SLPP and that the decision has to be made by the president and other committee members of the party.
I’m not sure if this was actually done by him perhaps it was done by someone that wanted to destroy his image in the sight of the president and all SLPP party members, so even if there was that intention for the party to handpick KKY to run as flag bearer will be totally forgotten. This isn’t good at all Sierra Leoneans😔
Is not every stuff that you see on social media that you will a conclusion on, anyone can write and post stuff in the name of an individual or group without their consent. So accusing KKY of something which I believe he is not even aware of is not call for. May be you have something else in mind against KKY.

KKY did not aware of all what was going on with those flyers ,bill boards or postals.
KKY is a Perfect Gentle man of high levels deplomacy in the political antenna or pools.

Sometimes we are too quick to condem and in the habit of belittling others. I’m devastated after reading a comment by a man of God who also double as journalist. He took his whole time disrespecting someone who played a pivotal role in assuring the SLPP not to go to a run off. KKY by all indications is a potential candidate for the leadership position in the future for SLPP by Allah’s Grace. As a man of God ( pastor Sesay ) in the future learn to respect people of high standard or even lower standard. As a journalist cross check information on Social Media before you speak about it please. I don’t know you but I respect you because you are a human being and a man of God as you claim to be. Please if you don’t like KKY for SLPP I don’t know what else you will. Please always speak your truth quietly and avoid aggressive comments especially when you cannot substantiate the facts. As a man of God you should follow how the prophets of God was delving in to problems in the community. A word for the wise is quite sufficient.
Kky should know that the past general election still in problem people are not happy with this SLPP pao pao Maada Bio power drunk ,so kky we are not interested
