The head of the APC ITGC Alfred Peter Conteh has sent a special letter to the Chairman of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone which he titled as a “Reminder on the legal matters in the Sierra Leone High Court pertinent to the legality of the Defacto APC Executive” ahead of the Political Parties Nominations.

In the said letter, he started by commending the Electoral Commission(ECSL) for their hard work in preparation for the June 24  Elections. Below are the statements from Conteh to ECSL

“In these busy times, it is but common to ignore outlandish, yet vital matters of concern that has the potential of wrecking financial havoc in your diligent efforts and annihilate the democratic tenet of our country. To minimize or eliminate these possibilities, it is of utmost importance to bring your attention to the ongoing legal fiascos hovering over the All Peoples Congress (APC) party. Suffice it to say that cognizant must be given to the fact that the Interim Transition Governance Committee (TTGC) is the only legitimate body tasked with governing the overall affairs of the APC party until an all-inclusive and credible National Delegate Convention is conducted pursuant to paragraph 90.10 of the 28 April 2022 High Court Judgement of Justice Adrian Fisher, and to further remind you that there are pending legal matters that possesses the potential of reversing your dealings with the De Facto Executives of the APC party.

On a separate Matter Between Francis Gbondo (Plaintiff) and 37 Defendant, the ITGC along with the 36 other defendants in this said matter were injuncted on 15 February 2023 by Justice Hannah Bonnie of the same High Court of

Sierra Leone, this decision halted, but did not vacate the Final High Court Judgement of Justice Adrian Fisher on 28 April 2022 and other subsequent rulings on 23 November 2022 and 27th January 2023. Thus, the ITGC awaits the lifting of the injunction to proceed with the Orders in the Final Judgement of Justice Adrian Fisher on 28 April 2022, and other subsequent Judgements on 23 November 2022, and 27th January 2023.

As your commission prepares to receive nomination of candidates from various political parties for the 6″ Parliament of the 2 Republic, and for other positions including Councillors, Mayors, and Flagbearers, I ask that the legality of nominees from our party on the standpoint outlined above be considered before accepting nominations. Our party suffered the consequences of alleged procedural breach when 9 of our Members of Parliament were removed from their elected positions as MPs. To curtail the ongoing national partisan rancour that followed the removal of 9 APC members of parliament, I am kindly asking your office to do whatever is within your operational and legal purviews to avert a repeat of a similar situation of the alleged procedural breach that deprived the APC party from having a sustained majority in the just concluded Sierra Leone Parliamentary term”
