Sierra Leonean Politician and a member of the main opposition All Peoples Congress (APC) who has been closely working with the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Alpha Kanu, has picked a date to formally declare for the SLPP.

Alpha Kanu has officially confirmed that he will be resigning from the APC political party and joining the SLPP on the 28th of April, 2023, according to his statement made to Awareness Times.

This decision according to him is based on his desire to pledge his unwavering support towards the re-election campaign of H.E. Maada Bio. A defection which many Sierra Leoneans believed may be of a significant shift in Sierra Leone’s political landscape and may have a considerable impact on the upcoming election in June.

It could be noted that, the role of Kanu has been eminent in both parties as serving the nation at different levels and at different times in governance.
