In a recent statement, Minkailu Koroma, the Senior Spokesperson for Sierra Leone’s All People’s Congress (APC), firmly disassociated the party from any unauthorized protests or demonstrations.

Speaking on the widely-watched television program “Wake Up Sierra Leone” on AYV Media Empire, Koroma made it clear that the APC does not endorse any “faceless protest and/or demonstration” that has not received official sanction from the party’s senior leadership.

The APC as a party is not in support of any faceless protest and/or demonstration. We have not sanctioned any protest. If we want to hold any protest, it will be led by our senior leadership after going through the right democratic channels,” stated Koroma. This declaration underscores the party’s commitment to following established democratic procedures for organizing and conducting protests.

Koroma’s remarks come amid a backdrop of increasing political tension and a climate of public dissent. By taking this stance, the APC aims to distance itself from any spontaneous or unsanctioned activities that could be perceived as undermining the democratic process or causing civil unrest.

The APC’s emphasis on leadership-led protests highlights its intent to maintain order and ensure that any expressions of public dissatisfaction are channeled through appropriate and lawful means. This approach is intended to safeguard the party’s reputation and ensure that its actions align with democratic principles and legal frameworks.
