Sierra Leone’s main opposition party, the All People’s Congress (APC), has announced that they will be boycotting the peace march organized by the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) on Monday, 22 May, 2023.
This revelation came to light during the ECSL’s engagement with the PPLC and Election Stakeholders gathering on Sunday morning.
Speaking on behalf of the party, Dr. Richard Konteh conveyed to the ECSL’s Commissioner, Mohamed Kenewui Konneh, that their party is dissatisfied with several unresolved issues and attacks on their members.
“We have raised concerns at the PPLC regarding the need for an audit of the voter’s register, particularly in relation to the anomalies that you (ECSL) have admitted to,” he said.
Konteh mentioned that the APC’s National Advisory Council (NAC) is concerned about the methodology that the ECSL will use to announce the results of the June elections.
“We are concerned because in 2018, they used a format to announce results in percentages, and we all know how that ended,” Konteh said.
“So, we want clarification on how the results will be announced,” Konteh added.
He also stated that the best method of certifying the results should be done at the district level instead of the regional level.
Konteh also highlighted attacks on APC supporters in Kenema and Pujehun.
“We want to state, Mr. Chairman, that the APC has been subjected to serious attacks from the SLPP,” he affirmed.
He mentioned that the party had raised similar concerns and received promises from the police to investigate the matter. Konteh stated that many of their supporters, including a candidate for Member of Parliament in Kenema, were beaten and had to flee for their lives.
Konteh claimed that supporters of the SLPP also used acid on some of their supporters in Pujehun.
In response to Konteh’s assertions, the SLPP Elections Management Committee Chair, Ambassador Dr. Kapuwa, asked the APC to direct their complaints to the police with evidence.
“The SLPP is the most peaceful party in Sierra Leone,” he said.
He further added that their party does not resort to violence.
ECSL is not a genuine body and are not hones and sincere with the people of this country.. Base on certain miscreants normalise casualties amongs a lots that has been happening before their eye seen they haven’t done anything patriotic per say…. Independent bodies please at watch and speak for the vulnerable citizens of this posterity nation..
The ECSL had already took oath with the president for second term so election’s is just a protocol
The SLPP Dr. Kapuwa is not honest to himself. How could you say SLPP is the most peaceful political party while your lawless political miscreants are running after peaceful opposition members in the country? God willing you’ll feel it.
The game has not begone and APC ayampi party operatives are crying foul. Slpp party is the most decent party and not like the APC ayampi terrorist group of holigans.
Like party like representatives Dr Kapuwa you dishonest to yourself, your family and your country people. Your response does not resemble you can’t you be truthful for once with yourself even when the barbaric act are right under your nostrils at your own very people

@ Dr Kapuwa fid you not listen to one of the President speech when he said SLPP NOR DEA KILL AGAIN and you call SLPP A peaceful party. Wow!!! With the intimidation of the other parties violence ratings so high in the country I think you need to examine your heart if you are really trye to yourself.

APC is doing everything humanly possible to derail the election process because they know they can not stand SLPP in this particular election. If so then APC just surrender and give up. The game is now too big for APC to handle.
SLPP must go in anyway if ECSL is involved with SLPP or not we must vote against SLPP, let us don’t be afraid of them
In 2007 election NEC cancel a whole district results which is within the strong hold of the SLPP and nothing was done, in that election the APC emerge victorious. Now you guys are all over the place trying to disturb the peace in this nation. You think this country is your private property forgetting that there are people who don’t care about the di**y politics you are engaged in.
All we are asking for is peace.
On thing that got me thinking is that APC was okay with the id cards with even their presidential candidate saying it is better than the ones they procured during their tenure of office.what change that notion in the last moment.may be it’s true that you can’t win and you are crying for attention.
I could remember way back in 2012 when Christiana Thorpe announced the presidential results and declared Ernest Bai Kobolo as the winner.She further said ” whoever is not satisfied with the election results must go to police” and that was even sang as a song by Bobor L.A because he isn’t my boss. Me as a political neutralist, am neither APC nor SLPP but I can say the facts. APC let’s leave SLPP to rule again for the next 5- 10 or 15 years. You have ruled this nation for over 36 years no improvement. Ernest Bai Kobolo ruled for 11 good years no complain and these people have come they want to put things in order and you are still fighting them. If you really love Sierra Leone you can’t fight each other instead you can come together and build mama sweet Sierra Leone. Sierra Leone education is coming back to existence since Bio came to power though the economic situations very hard for him but he’s trying. If you travel to other African nations that’s the time you will know that Sierra Leone education is very good.The president of Sierra Leone is highly praised in most African nations interns of education, infrastructure, energy and non tribalistic. President Bio came into power 2018 and the areas he started working most was the northern province and even the school feeding programs he it in the Northern region.
He constructed the first government hospital in Port Loko, northern province.
The first bridge, that’s the magbele bridge in the north. What else even the road linking to his home town just now they have started that. The fellow is trying.
It’s during his government that Sierra Leone has been ranked as the third country with less corruption in Africa and 24th in the whole world.
Please let’s unite together and build this nation.
APC has already realised that they are going to lose the June 24 elections. The more reasons they want to disturb the peace of our beloved nation.
Let’s put our##Mama Salone## above all interest and be peaceful, hatred cannot cease hatred only with love and let learn to accept everyone for who they are
