The Vice-Presidential Candidate of Sierra Leone’s main opposition party, All People’s Congress, Chernor Maju Bah alias Chericoco has criticised the country’s Electoral Commission for disenfranchising a voter at Brookfields in Freetown.
“A voter who registered at the MMCET Brookfields was not allowed to vote,” Bah said on his official Twitter page.
He said the voter was with her ID card but was refused to vote because her address according to the card was in Kambia.
According to the APC Vice-Presidential Candidate, the woman said it was a mistake made by the Commission which they promised to rectify but could not.
“This deliberate voter suppression by ECSL is unacceptable,” he fumed.
Similar concerns were reported in other polling units across the country during Saturday polls.
One report at the SLMC Calaba Town polling unit with centre code 16030 alleged that a local chief was not allowed to vote because he was without an ID card. The man said during the time for the collection of ID cards, the ECSL staff said his name was not on the register but issued him with a slip with his personal details.
The issue was complained to British High Commission Observers who happened to be at the scene.
In another news, regional tally centres have opened on Sunday morning for the collation of results.
We wish you success keep the good work Mr.Bah our next vice president
May Almighty Allah choose for us the right person
The election proceeding yesterday wasn’t free and fair. A lot of malpractice was caught in many polls. Moreover, voting was conducted late in many polls.
In his grave he will be the next vice president
We are behind first
Please Mr Bah. All what you are saying is true. But I strongly advise you and our president to be to please monitor. I mean be very observant on those ballots boxes. Because their plan is to shurb ie to put unstamped ballots in those boxes. an that’s what happening now because the poll observers where very vigilant that render them their impossible.so please be allat . that is why they are saying their is no run – off .
