The All People’s Congress (APC) has officially confirmed that businessman and party member Alhaji Mohamed Omodu “Jagaban” Kamara is eligible to contest for the party’s flagbearer position in its forthcoming leadership election.
The confirmation was made by APC Secretary General Lansana Dumbuya, who said the party had completed a thorough verification of Kamara’s membership status. According to Dumbuya, Kamara submitted documents proving his party membership, which were then checked against the APC’s official records.
“After we verified the date through our system, we found it to be correct, and this allows him to move forward,” Dumbuya said.
He further explained that the party’s current constitution supports Kamara’s eligibility to run for the flagbearer position. “The new constitution and its rules allow him to contest for the flagbearer position at the congress,” Dumbuya stated.

He noted, however, that while future developments could still affect the process, both the verified membership date and the existing constitutional provisions currently work in Kamara’s favor.
Jagaban Kamara’s eligibility had earlier generated public debate within and outside the party, with questions raised about the timing of his APC membership and the authenticity of his documentation. The party’s announcement now addresses those concerns and clears the way for his participation in the flagbearer race.
The APC has not yet released an official timetable for its leadership election. However, interest within the party and among political observers is growing, as attention turns to the list of aspirants expected to formally contest for the party’s top position.
With the party’s confirmation, Jagaban Kamara now joins the field of potential contenders as the APC prepares for its next leadership contest.

Well done Sierra Leoneans really need him to transform our beloved country
All this their trick or plan to drop our brother from the race has to be null and void. Imagine a man who has been an active member for over 15 years is the one they wanted to condem just because of hatred. The one we just saw is the one they want to take high.
To all APC hierarchy, bear in mind that failure to allow or support him(Sam Sumana) the next next flag bearer will automatically disqualify your party from winning the 2028 presidential election. Take it from me. Kono is a whole district with population of nearly a million. You all know why you loose the 2018 and 2023 elections and you still haven’t not learnt anything.
We really need him to help our helpless country
