Reports indicate that Lansana Dumbuya, the Secretary-General of the opposition All People’s Congress (APC), is currently making a statement at the Criminal Investigations Department.
SierraEye reports that He was invited by the police to make a statement regarding a video he put out yesterday. It is not clear if he is being charged with any offence.
Dumbuya, on behalf of the APC announced on Tuesday that the party would stage a nationwide peaceful protest following the failure of the Chief Electoral Commissioner, Mohammed Konneh and his electoral commissioners to resign or address their concerns regarding the forthcoming election as demanded in an earlier press conference.
The peaceful protest was earlier scheduled to hold on Sunday but was postponed after the Inspector General of Police refused to grant the party approval, citing late notification.
Despite a meeting with the ECSL, and other international bodies on Monday, the APC said there was no headway, and it will go ahead with its planned demonstration if their demands are not met.
“We want to unequivocally state here that, if all the issues are not resolved in today’s 12pm meeting, be notified that we have now call out our supporters nation-wide to converge in designated areas to be communicated by the Party for a peaceful protest on Wednesday 21st June, 2023. As it will be a peaceful procession, we urge your personnel to be peaceful with civilians and to provide us with the required protection.”, a statement by the party on Tuesday said.

These APC elements, their financiers and supporters who tend to sidestep the law and prevailing regulations to destabilize this country and the proverbial citizens confort should be thoroughly dealt with in accordance with the law. Enough is Enough.
The opposition did nothing wrong by asking for clarification and if they failed to do so then they ask for peaceful demonstration why the killing now?

All of you that are saying he should be held till further notice are stupid, senseless and mayopic to the truth. Are you saying nobody has the right to express their views and he notify the police . Now I know the security are now state captured institutions, it’s a peaceful demonstration nobody was caught with any harmful object, this is not democracy as he said.
The SLPP when served as an opposition, never acted like the way APC is acting. Just five years of being off power, they can’t bear the wait. APC had ruled this nation more than SLPP, but we didn’t feel the expected gravity of changes; yet, they keep harassing the reign of the SLPP. Why can’t the APC patient and pray, if truly they mean well for Sierra Leone, and they’re not gravitating toward national ransacking, as they did in there previous years of reign.
No need for the APC chairman to force a protest that has been denied. If he loves Sierra Leone, more than his party, he would had advised his supporters to obey the government of the day, and allow God to fight their genuine interest, if the had one.
