All People’s Congress [APC] National Legal Representatives, Lawyer Africanus Sorie Sesay and Lawyer Mohamed Alie Mogaji member of Parliament for constituency 123 launched and endorsed the APC Disciplinary Committee and Pooling Officers within their constituency.

The event was held over the weekend at the Foulah Town community hall, and the launched is in line with chapter 6, article 59-65 of the party’s March 2022 constitution.

The Disciplinary Committee comprises 15 members, whilst the polling officers were 71 in number and were drawn from across the two wards in the entire Constituency.

It was disclosed that, the polling officers are to serve the party during elections; both national and internal, across the country.

Speaking during the endorsement ceremony, the APC Legal officer, Lawyer Africans Sesay stated that when fully operational, the new disciplinary Committee will encourage members to bring in their complaints and grievances instead of seeking redress at the High Court.

Africanus Sorie Sesay also noted that if any of the aggrieved members is not satisfied with the decision of the new disciplinary committee, there are other higher disciplinary committees within the party structures nationwide where they could channel their appeals.

“After exhausting all the relevant disciplinary committees within the party, the aggrieved member will now have the backing of the party to seek redress in a court of law,” the legal luminary further informed.

Lawyer Africanus Sorie Sesay disclosed that the new established Committee will have a 3-year mandate and that committee members should work with other stakeholders on elections related issues. “It is high time party members stopped fighting each other,” he admonished.

Explaining some of the legal aspects and mandate of the Disciplinary Committee, Lawyer Mohamed Alie Mogaji Tejan warned the national executive members of the party to desist from using the selection clause during elections which, he said, goes contrary to provisions in the new APC constitution.

He also noted that the new constitution has created a democratic platform for all registered members in the party, irrespective of status, tribe or region, adding that the endorsement of the new Disciplinary
Committee and polling Officers in the Constituency is a novelty by the constituency across the country and should be replicated in all wards, constituencies, districts and regions, nationwide.

Lawyer Tejan also stated that the Committee has the right to hear and sit on cases brought to it and address them to their logical conclusions.

The program was well attended by APC members across the constituency.
