Sierra Leone’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Henry Musa Kpaka has signed a partnership deed with OCP Africa Which is focused on a fair agricultural transition centered on soils and farmers.

The partnership was formally sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding signed by their Senior Vice-President West Africa OCP Mehdi Filali and the Minister.

It was maintained that this collaboration marks a significant stride towards a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable agricultural sector in Sierra Leone.

 

In pursuit of this shared objective, OCP Africa and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security of Sierra Leone will execute various initiatives, including the last-mile distribution of farm inputs and services, local production of specialty fertilizer, interventions for soil health and fertility, a digital decision support platform, integrated model farms, and the implementation of demonstration trials.

This collaboration is also viewed as a big boost to the Feed Salone initiative by President Bio which the Minister is fighting harder to achieve as a key front runner.

The OCP Africa is a subsidiary of OCP Group that is a leading global provider of phosphate and its derivatives with almost over 100years of experience.

It was revealed that the OCP Africa was created in 2016 in the bid to contribute to the sustainable development of African agriculture, as they develop fertilizer solutions customized to local conditions and crop needs, and they work with Partners in many different African countries, non profit and private enterprises to connect farmers to the agricultural services, knowledge and resources they need in order to get good production.
